The Public Works Director stated that the area between Garnsey and
<br />Durant Streets was the only section not yet channelized for left turns;
<br />that restriction of parkt-g was necessary in or~er to provide a left
<br />turn pocket; that until the street is widened, no other solution exists.

<br />Vic Silver, owner of property at 407 W. 17th, Mrs. Margaret Zimpleman,
<br />owner of property in 500 block on 17th, and Dick Marshall, owner of
<br />property in 600 block on 17th, objected to the proposal, with Mr. Silver
<br />aa~ Mrs. Zimpleman requesting at least a 3 months delay to allow owners
<br />time to widen in or~er to retain parking.
<br />
<br />The Pla,ming Director discussed with Coumcil a study of off-street parking
<br />problems on 17th but stated it cannot be applied until Council makes a
<br />determination on the exact location of 17th Street as it will be aligne~l
<br />in its ultimate width. -There being no further testimony the hearing was closed.
<br />
<br />A motion by Councilman Brooks that further rending be waived and
<br />Resolution 65-136 be adopted was lost for lack of second,
<br />
<br />It was moved by Couacilmam Brooks, that action on the resolution be
<br />deferred to the meeting of January 3, 1966. At the suggestion of
<br />Couacilmam Burk, an~ Councilma~ gerrin, and with the City Attorney's
<br />approval, Councilman Brooks re-worded his motion to read that further
<br />reading be waived and Resolution 65-1B6 be adopted, withan effective
<br />date of January 3, 1966. Couact~ma~ Markel seconded the motion and it
