Mr. Keith Monroe, representing the applicants, stated exterior remodeling <br />would be required and proposal would benefit neighborhood; that the <br />Planning Commission considered the CD zoning, which was not in effect and <br />therefore not evidence. <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Keenan presented artist's rendering of proposed exterior and <br />agreed to any conditions and time limit. There being no further testimony, <br />the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />The Planning Director stated this was a rezoning request in the face of <br />a publicly announced acquisition by a governmental agency; that the property <br />is within the area to be acquired under the Joint Powers Agreement by the <br />County; that the Commission had followed past policy of not approving <br />conversions in the Civic Center area unless they were tantamount to new <br />construction and the ~xterior remodeling had not been presented to <br />Commission. <br /> <br />The applicant stated it had only just ccme to his attention that the County <br />had sent a letter of intent to purchase the property; that applicants were <br />not owners but had option to buy; that exterior drawing was not submitted <br />to Commission because it was felt that was of concern only to Building <br />Department. Councilman McMichael noted the proposal was substandard in <br />driveway, parking, and maneuvering area. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Burk and carried, <br />that Council uphold the action of the Planning Commission and the City <br />Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution denying Variance Application <br /> <br />2202, <br /> <br />17TH ST. SIGNS - <br />GLASS & Hinsvark <br /> <br />George Glass and Kenneth Ninsvark <br />presented request that permit for <br />sign (Bird) at 1621 E. 17th be held <br />in abeyance until law suit is <br />resolved, and request for discussion of sign control on 17th Street. Mayor <br />Harvey suggested the arguments be presented to the Judge inasmuch as the <br />matter was now in Court and that any suggestions for sign control be <br />presented to the Planning Staff, who were making a study at Council direction. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />At 8:50 p.m., a five minute recess <br />was declared. PARCEL MAP 448 It was moved by Councilman Gilmore, <br /> seconded by Councilman Herrin and <br /> carried, that Tentative Parcel Map <br /> ~8 filed by Income Centers, Inc., <br />et al., creating two parcels on Wainut, Center, Chestnut and Daisy Streets <br />be approved subject to conditions in Planning Director's report dated <br />February 2, 1966 and that w~iver of alley requirement be approved. <br /> <br />TENT. PARCEL MAP 446 It was moved by Councilman Gilmore, <br /> seconded by Councilman Herrin and <br /> carried, that Tentative Parcel Map <br /> 446 filed by Philip R.
