COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA - FY 2003-04 <br />Revised Target Number <br />Name Of Organization: The Cambodian Family <br />Program Name: The Cambodian Family Youth Program <br />Brief Description: Our FY 2003-04 CDBG grant will promote the increased well-being <br />of 60 Cambodian and Latino youths, age 6-20, participating in our Youth Program's after <br />school and weekend, academic and character building activities; and 50-75 pazents, <br />participating in parent education, counseling, and referral services. <br />GOAL ONE: CHARACTER BUILDING: To prevent youth delinquency and <br />dropout by increasing the positive factors that contributes to youths' feeling of self- <br />worth, their abilities to interact responsibly and respectfully, and their abilities to <br />envision productive futures. <br />Objectives: <br />1. Enroll 60 youths, age 6-20, in our comprehensive after school and weekend <br />Youth Program. <br />2. Provide life skills, leadership training, creative arts, sports, community <br />services and mentoring. <br />3. Provide classes in Cambodian and Hispanic cultural preservation, Cambodian <br />language and dance. <br />GOAL TWO: ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT: To prevent youth delinquency and <br />dropout by improving youths' academic skills and performance. <br />Objectives: <br />1. Enroll 30-40 youths in computer lab. <br />2. Provide 60 youths reading, tutoring, and homework assistance in math, <br />English, and other subjects. <br />3. Provide library activities, through the visiting Santa Ana Public Library <br />bookmobile. <br />GOAL THREE: FAMILY DEVELOPMENT: To prevent youth delinquency and <br />dropout by enhancing parents' ability to provide for the health and well-being of <br />their families. <br />Objectives: <br />1. Provide 30-40 pazents parenting education, counseling, and social adjustment <br />assistance. <br />2. Provide upward mobility counseling about social and economic self- <br />sufficiency. <br />3. Provide referrals to English and vocational training, job placement services, <br />health caze, and more. <br />4. Increase parents' involvement in schools and community. <br />Exhibit A <br />
