It was moved by C~ncilman Gilmore, seconded by Councilman Herrin, that further reading be waived and Ordinance N8-861 be adopted. On roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen Gilmore, Brooks, Burk, Herrin, Markel, Harvey NOES: None ABSz~vr: Councilman McMichael RES. 66-132 :- ~' It was moved by Councilman Markel~ CLOSING PARTON STREET seconded by Councilman Herrin, that the City Council not adopt Resolution 66-132 closing Parton Street between Walnut and Pine Streets. The members of the City Council discussed this proposal at length with Dr. Miller and Mr. Stone, of the School District, the City M~uager~ the Director of Public Works and the Fire Chief. Dr. Miller noted that the purpose of the request is to allow the crossing of 900 students two times each day and he passed out to the City Council a diagram showing how the street would be closed and signs to be installed. A substitute motion by Councilman Markel, that the matter be postponed to the next Council Meeting and referred to the Staff for notification of people in the area~ was seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried.
