<br />the Assistance League of Santa Ama, objected to the entire take from the north
<br />side, the landscaped medians, an~ the suggested width of the lanes. Dale
<br />Neinly, attoraey representing busimess people on the south side of the street,
<br />state~ his clients agreed with the taklag of property from the north side of
<br />the street, but were against raised medians. ~rso Lydia Davis, 1~92 W. Pine
<br />Street, spoke in favor of plente~ center me, liens. Geral~ Peebler, owner of'
<br />a business on South ~ia, Dixon Shafer, c~aer of property in the 60~ block
<br />of West 1st Street, and L. L. Mills, property o~aer in the 120~ Block of
<br />West 1st Street, spoke in favor of the painted me{lien. Hugh Starer, 219 E;
<br />1st Street, gave his opinion that two lanes of traffic on each side would
<br />handle the traffic.

<br />Lewis Lissner, ~23 W. 6th Street, L~s Angeles, attorney for Pep B~ys, stated
<br />that they are in favor of taW~-g the property from the north side and are in
<br />favor of the flat median. Hewar~ Ryam, 801 West 1st Street, spoke in opposi-
<br />tion to the raised median and in favor of taking half the property from each
<br />side. ~as Lambros, property owner at the corner of 1st and ~-ssh, said he
<br />thought the property sh~l~ be taken from both sides, with no divider in the
<br />mille. ~rs. James Jud~, Boar~ Member of the Assistance League, whose head-
<br />quarters are located at 1039 West let, said the League will be seriously in-
<br />Jared if ~0 feet is taken off the n~r~th side. L. L. Barnett~ ~wner of prop-
<br />erty at 506 E~st 1st, showed pictures to the Council depicting what the buil~-
<br />ings will look like if 20 feet is taken off. ~here being no i~%rther testi-
<br />mony, the hearing was closed.
