EXHIBIT A
Scope of Work
Annual Accomplishment Goal
7-28-03
I. Number of unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served with grant funds during the 12-
month contract period = 1,000 PARTICIPANTS
II. Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-
month contract period including, services to be provided, program goals, client characteristics, &
how grant funds will be utilized.
The purpose of the Latino Youth Leadership Institute (LYLI) is to train a cross
section of present and future Latino Leaders by providing leadership skills
development and promoting education and Latino unity. This in turn will create a
leadership community that values diversity, cultural pride, empowerment and
community involvement.
The Latino youth Leadership Institute has the capability to provide students workshops
to educate them about college opportunities, enhance their leadership skills, and to
include motivational guest speakers to encourage the Latino youth.
The goals of the Latino Youth Leadership Institutes are to: Promote higher education
and educational excellence. Develop leadership skills by conducting training activities,
workshops, and conferences. Coordinate programs and conferences that will shape
Latino leaders whom will positively impact the future of our community and country. To
provide educational opportunities through scholarships.
Today's progress of Latino youth is a tribute to our pioneering leadership in opening
doors of opportunity so that the youth can realize their dreams through educational
attainment and civic participation. As we inspire our youth, we also earn the deep
respect of community leaders, who confidently look towards our organization as the key
to the success of the next generation. We are now challenged in providing
unprecedented leadership opportunities for our youth.
Our interest in having a conference of this magnitude demonstrates our never-ending
desire to teach the youth, for them to believe in themselves, and serve others in the
community. The conference will provide the knowledge and skills that are needed for
our youth and participants of Santa Ana to become effective leaders. We have a
commitment to ensure that they have the proper tools and support to empower
themselves and those in the community. Most important is for the youth and
participants of Santa Ana to realize that they have the potential to lead and to serve as
tomorrow's leaders.
Exhibit A
