EASTW00D FIRE STATION SITE ~ $ ~ The City Manager reported en the surplus <br /> fire station site at Fourth and Eastwood <br /> which Southern Service Company had expressed <br />an interest in purchas~_ug, explaining that there are residential owners who <br />should have an opportunity to be heard~ Mr..O~Commor, Attorney representing <br />Southern Service Company, said they are interested in purchasimg because of <br />plans for development ef the adjacent laumdry~ that they have applied for a <br />variance which is set for hearing before the Plamnimg Commission om June 26 <br />to eliminate the rear yard requirement in order to build a warehouse amd leading <br />dock° <br /> <br />After discussing the possibility of changing the zone prior to sale as opposed <br />to selling contingent upon a particular use variance, it was the decision of <br />the Council to declare the property surplus and instruct the staff to obtain <br />appraisals and report back at the next meetimg~ recommaending minimum price <br />and auction dates on motion of CounciLman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrin <br />and carried. <br /> <br />SURPLUS PROPERTY C~ +~ Considering Surplus Property Report <br />REPORT 11-67 11-67, regarding office building at <br /> 310, 312, and 320 E o 17th, the City <br />Council, en motion of Councilman B~ook~, seconded by Councilman Herrin and <br />carried, declared the building surplus and authorized demolition° <br /> <br />SURPLUS PROPERTY C%~ Council considered Surplus Property <br />REPORT 12-67 Report 12-67 regarding 1~667 square <br /> feet of land at southeast corner of <br />Eighth and Bristol and Manager's report recommending that the Council find <br />the property of value only to adjacent owner because of irregular shape and <br />size and authorize sale by contract° The M~nager reported further that <br />Warren Proctor, Realtor, had obtained an offer on the property at the City's <br />appraised value of $5.50 per square foot frc~ the purchaser of adjacent <br />property and recommended the realtor be designated as City's agent of <br />record in this transaction. <br /> <br />Warren Proctor stated the prospective buyer is in escrow on all adjacent <br />properties subject to his buying this property, and subject to commercial <br />zoning. Councilman Griset stated that the sale should be conditioned on <br />the actual purchase of the land to the south. Ronald Lee~ representing <br />Pacific Southwest Properties, the purchaser, explained they have a six <br />months' escrow on the adjacent properties, and agreed the sale could be <br />subject to acquiring title to adjacent properties° <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Thurman and carried~ <br />that Council declare the property described in Report 12-67 surplus, find ib <br />of value only to the adjacent property owner because of irregular shape and <br />size, and approve sale to purchaser of adjacent properties at price of $5°50 <br />per square foot, designating Warren Proctor as City's agen% with sale to be <br />subject to (1) acquisition of adjacent properties, and (2) filing of appli- <br />cation for c~zmercial zoning by purchaser within fifteen days after final <br />action of City all~wing property being sold July 3rd under S oPoRo 13-67 to <br /> <br />be placed in escrow. <br /> <br /> EAND OYE NORT .ST CORNE <br /> <br />Reportimg on a meeting he and Mayor <br />McMichael had with the Plant Manager <br />of Holly Sugar Company, Vice Mayor <br /> <br />Herrin explained that ir~formation regarding the proposed fire station, the <br />east-west arterial that has been proposed, and possible County tax reduction <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL -199- June 5, 1967 <br /> <br /> <br />
