MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY CCUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />June 19, 1967 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 217 <br />North Main Street. Roll call was answered by Councilmen Walter Brooks, <br />Lorin Griset, J. Ogden Markel, Thomas Thurman and Vice Mayor Wade Herrin. <br />CounciLman James E. Carlson and Mayor Tom McMichael were absent. Also <br />present were City Manager Carl J. Thornton, City Attorney William L. Mock, <br />Assistant Director of Public Works R. Henry Mohle, Director of Planning <br />Paul Van Stevens, and Clerk of the Council Doris M. Brown. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion of Councilman Griset, <br /> seconded by Councilman Thurman and <br /> carried, Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />of June 5, 1967, were approved as written. <br /> <br />PARKING CONCESSION On motion of CounciLman Brooks, <br /> seconded by Councilman Thurman and <br /> carried~ Council ordered filed report <br />of bids received for the operation ofparking Concession at Santa Aha <br />Municipal Stadium for the years 1967 and 1968; awarded contract to Santa <br />Ana Junior Chamber of Commerce; and rejected all other bids. <br /> <br />LEGAL ADVERTISING On motion of Councilman Markel, <br /> seconded by Councilman Griset and <br /> carried, Council awarded contract for <br />legal advertising for fiscal year 1967-68 to The Santa Ana Register, the <br />only bidder. <br /> <br />PROJECT C-151 - MEETING HALL Council received a report of bids <br />SANTIAGO PARK submitted for erection of a meeting <br /> hall in Santiago Park, noting <br />irregularities in the low bid from Billy D. Filson. A motion by Council- <br />man Brooks to accept the second low bid by C. S. Boyd failed for lack of <br />second. A motion by Councilman Markel, seconded by Councilman Thurman, to <br />reject the bids and readvertise was withdrawn after hearing the Attorney's <br />opinion that with so many variances Filson's was not a bid but more a <br />counter-proposal. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried, <br />Council ordered filed report of bids received; awarded contract to C. S. <br />Boyd Company; and rejected all other bids. <br /> <br />PROJECT C-150 - PARKING LOT On motion of Councilman Brooks, <br />& TENNIS COURT AT ALONA PARK seconded by Councilman Griset and <br /> carried, Council ordered filed report <br />of bids received for Construction of Parking Lot and Tennis Court at <br />Alona Park; awarded contract at unit prices to the low bidder, Hardy & <br />Harper; and rejected all other bids. <br /> <br />PROJECT W-36 - SOUTH RESERVOIR <br />LANDSCAPING <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, <br />seconded by Councilman Thurman and <br />carried, Council ordered filed report <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL -206- <br /> <br />June 19, 1967 <br /> <br /> <br />
