The <br />City Attorney suggested that if it is the view of Council that the school <br />district has overreached or assumed more thau they should, the situation <br />could be corrected by direction of the Director of Public Works that the <br />trailers be move~o <br /> <br />Noting that he and Councilman Markel had opposed the action to close the <br />street~ Mayor McMichael state~ it was taken by ~ majority of Council and <br />is a closed issue u~less the City Attormey sees Jeopardy to ownership of <br />the street. Cozmaenting that the Council was told the closure was needed <br />to protect children crossing the street, J~uice B~er read a school paper <br />article saying the trailers were permanently located on Parton Street, <br />and requested Council open the street o <br /> <br />A three minute recess was declared at 9~15 PoM~ The Council reconveyed <br />at 9:20 PoM. with all Councilmen present~ <br /> <br />Councilman Markel remarked that the Fire Chief had been opposed to the <br />closing. CounciLm~uBrooks suggested the proposed use of the structures <br />be clarified and the Council should be informed prior to placing anything <br />in the street. <br /> <br />On motic~ of Councilman Thurman, seccaded by Councilman Carlson and carried, <br />the matter was submitte~ to staff for study a~d report in thirty ~ays~ <br /> <br />CROSSWALK Asked by Councilman Markel if pedestrian <br /> crossing in Wilshire area for Glen Martin <br /> School could be changed to a school cros~ <br />sing, the City Manager explained that state law prevents it because of the <br />distance fro~ school. <br /> <br />BILLIABD AND POOL OPERATION Speaking of propose~ use of building at Main <br /> an8 Wilshire for fa~i~ pool and billiard <br /> center~ Councilman. Markel asked Council to <br />consider deleting from Municipal Co~le 'the requirement that a use permit must be <br />obtained.
