Ceuaci/mam Narkel amd Jamice Beer, 912 No Lowell, spoke ia opposition te having the street clesed~./At the request ef the Mayer, the City Attorney restated his opinion that the action ef the Council te close the street did mot cowStitute an abandonment aer did the plaCement ef temporary buildings endanger the City's ownership of the street° Councilman Brooks asked the City Atterney te furnish the Council with his interpretation of whether er net Vehicle Cede Section 21022, read by Mrs. Beer, was permissive. A similar citation was presented te the City Manager by Mr. William Wemke. Responding, Mayor McYaichael acknowledged the outstanding effort of the Chamber of Commerce, noted also the important work of other business associations in the community, mud expressed the hope that all of the groups cOUld Join together ia the future in order te make a far greater City of Santa A~a. Councilman Markel reported briefly en his attendance at the League of California Cities Cemferemce in San Mayer McMichael read from a newspaper article citing Santa A~a as having the lowest tax rate in the county.
