BRANCH LII~ARY 2~ 2~ The Manager reported that while the <br /> staff did not reco~end the site at <br /> Fairview an~ Editor as a branch library <br />site, they continued to maintain that a branch library system should be <br />studied, with a branch in the southwest area given i~aediate attention. <br /> <br />The following people spoke, urging the establishment of branch libraries <br />in .qanta Ana an~ especially i~' the southwest area: Allen God~ar~, 231~ <br />No Poinsettia; ~rs. Narlene Cabot, President of League of W~en Vo~ers; <br />Henry Xee-A-~, President of Friends of the Santa Aha Public Library; <br />Iola Edwards, Junior Past President of Santa Aha Council of PoToAoSo <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Griset amd carried, <br />the staff was authorized to conduct a study and report back as soon as <br />possible on a location to replace at least the Lathrop branch in the south, <br />on either a lease or purchase basis o <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded By Councilman Griset amd carried, <br />the petitions containing approximately 520 signatures amd letters fr~m <br />Fern Z~w~er~a-, John Adams P.T.A., McFadden Jro Nigh School PoToAo, George <br />Washington P.T.A., and Santa Ana Council of Parent-Teacher Associations, <br />were ordered filed. <br /> <br />NETER~) PAR~ING C?, ~ On motion of Co,~uci~=A- Grtset, seconded <br /> by Counci~m~n Herrin and carried, the <br /> City Council approved rec~endations <br />of the staff for a 2~ minute metered parking zone on the east side of Main, <br />north of 8th St., in front of B~ak of America in central traffic district <br />"B", amd ordered preparation of a resolution° <br /> <br />SURPLUS PROPERTY 'C~ Report 2~-67, regarding ~,130 sq. ft. <br /> parcel at northwest corner of First <br /> amd Baker, with m~i~ to declare <br />surplus, of value only to adjacent owmer' because of size and shape, and <br />authorize negotiated sale, tabled 11/6 until full Council present, was <br />taken fr~m table, on motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Counc~3m~ <br />Rerrin and carried. <br /> <br />Council held a lengthy discussion with staff regarding adjacent owners, <br />size of lot, and method of negotiating sale, with the understanding final <br />disposition could not he ma~e of the property without further CounCil action. <br /> <br />The Council heard responses by the City Manager to a number of questions <br />posed by Janice Boer for the Property Owners Protective League about the <br />demolition of buildings. ~ayor McMichael suggested ~Ar~her questions be <br />submitted in writing. <br /> <br />At the request of Councilmam Griset, the wor~ owner in the motion before <br />Coumcilwas chamged to owners° <br /> <br />CITY COU~C~B~. 329 ~ovemher 20, <br /> <br /> <br />
