, a~ ~0 TRA~.'~C ~eport of control devices removed or <br /> installed 11/30 - 12/12/67 was ordered <br /> filed on motion of Councilman Thurman, <br /> seconded by Counc~lW~u Grieet a~d carried. <br /> <br />SURPLUS BUILDINGS Council considered Report 3~-67 regarding <br /> building at 1301 W. let and Report 36-67 <br /> regarding two residences at 1315 and <br />1323 W. let, recommending that Council declare surplus and authorize demolition. <br /> <br />Janice Boer protested the demolition of buildings prior to sale of surplus <br />property. A question By Councilman ~arkel regarding parking for the Saunders <br />property via lease frc~ the Santora Company was referred to the staff at the <br />suggestion of Mayor Mc~tichael. In answer to a questio~ by Howard l~yan, the <br />City Manager explained that the first segment of the First Street construction <br />was scheduled to start in June and be completed in September ~f 1968. <br /> <br />A motion by Councilman Thurman, seconded by Councilman Herrin, to declare <br />the buildings surplus and authorize demolition, was adopted w. ith Councilman <br />Markel voting "no". <br /> <br /> SAFETY CO~fTEE Councilmen Griset and Carlson submitteed <br /> the report of c~m~tttee formed to stud~ <br /> a staff recommendation that certain <br />school crossing guards be deleted. The report reccmmended that a citizen <br />government advisory c~ittee for traffic safety he created to advise, <br />recommend and support the City Council in the field of traffic safety; and <br />that the Council take no further action on protection and controls at <br />intersections used by elementary children until such time as the newly ~ .: <br />created committee can study the matter in depth and report its findings to <br />the City Council. <br /> <br />It was moved by Counci~ma~ Thurman, seconded by Councilman Herrin, that <br />the report be ordered filed and the recommendation accepted. The motion <br />was adopted with Couflcilman ~rkel voting "no", i~dicat~ng there should be <br />a time limit set. <br /> <br />RECESS At 5:50 PoMo the meeting was recessed <br /> to 7:30 P.Mo at which time it was <br /> reconvened with the same Councilmen <br />present.
