EXHIBIT A <br />Scope of Work <br />Orange County's PACIFIC SMPHONY <br />2003-2004 <br />Annual Accomplishment Goal <br />L Number of unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served with grant funds during the 12- <br />month contract period = 1,397 PERSONS <br />II. Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract <br />period including, services to be provided, program goals, client characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized. <br />Music Academy <br />Through this initiative 50 high school music students from throughout Santa Ana come to the <br />Pacific Symphony Center for weekly, after -school, semi -private instruction with some of the <br />finest teachers within the Symphony. Students stand to benefit greatly from the regular one-on- <br />one interactions they will have with these positive role models, and the wonders of the world of <br />music will be opened up to them as a result of their participation in this special endeavor. <br />Informances <br />Ensemble Informances will be presented at Davis and Heninger elementary schools. These <br />informances will feature members of the Pacific Symphony performing in small ensemble <br />groups and explaining the music they performed for the student and parent audiences. <br />Youth Concerts at the Orange County Performing Arts Center <br />During the school day, Santa Ana Unified School District students will be bussed to the Orange <br />County Performing Arts Center to experience a Pacific Symphony concert. The concert's music <br />and commentary will be designed specifically for the students. The concert content will coincide <br />with information presented to students during the in -school music appreciation lessons. <br />Music Appreciation Lessons <br />During this six-month period, a series of music appreciation lessons will be taught at elementary <br />schools. The lessons, which will be led by a composer/musician, will cover areas including basic <br />musical concepts, music history and its context in world history, symphony orchestras, and <br />musical instruments. <br />Instrumental Training Clinics <br />Instrumental training clinics will be held at Santa Ana High School for the District's middle and <br />high school instrumental music students. During each clinic, a professional Pacific Symphony <br />musician will work with 6-12 students and lead discussions about performing on his/her <br />instrument, demonstrate proper technique, and observe and comment on each student's <br />performance. <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
