MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />May 6, 1968 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PoM~ inthe Council Chambers, 217 North <br />Main Street with the following Councilmen present: Wade Herrin, James E. <br />Carlson, Lorin Griset, J. Ogden Markel, Thomas W. Thurman and Mayor Tom <br />McNichael. Councilman Walter B~ooks was absent, but arrived later. Also <br />present were City Manager Carl J. Thornton, City Attorney William L. Mock, <br />Director of Public Works Ronald Wolford, Planning Director Van Stevens, <br />and Clerk of the Council Doris M. Brown. <br /> <br />MINUTES Councilman Markel objected to the last <br /> paragraph under "First Street Construction, <br /> on Page 417 of the Minutes for the Regular <br />~eti-~ of April 15, 1968o Action was held over on approval until the evening <br />meeting so that Councilman Markel could make the correction. <br /> <br />At the evening session, on motion of Councilman Thurman, seconded by Councilman <br />Herrin and carried, the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 15, 1968, were <br />approved with the exception of the last paragraph under "First Street Construction" <br />on Page ~17. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Special Council Meeting of April 26, 1968, were approved <br />as submitted on motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Markel <br />and carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Brooks arrived at the meeting. <br /> <br />POLICE CARS C~ $~ <br /> <br />bids received for 6 Police Cars, <br />bidder, McPeek Plymouth Center, <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded <br /> by Councilman Herrin and carried, the <br /> City Council ordered filed report of <br /> Spec. 641-131; awarded contract to the low <br />Inc.; and rejected all other bids. <br /> <br />PROJECT S-52 C ~ %':% ~" <br /> On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br />by Councilman Markel and carried, Council <br />ordered filed report of bids received for <br />Project S-52, Sewers in Poinsettia, Adams, Cypress, and Grand; awarded contract <br />at unit prices to the low bidder, De Leon Construction; and rejected all other <br />bids. <br /> <br />BUSINESS PROMOTION AREA C ~ % b~ The request of the Downtown Santa Ana <br /> Association to be heard regarding establish- <br /> ment of Parking and Business Promotion Area <br />was continued to the meeting of May 20th at the request of the Association, on <br />motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL 427 May 6, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
