ARTICLE IV <br />4.0 SALARIES <br /> <br />4.1 <br /> <br />4.2 <br /> <br />4.3 <br /> <br />Basic Compensation Plan. There is hereby established a basic compensation plan for all full- <br />time personnel who are now employed or will in the future be employed in any of the <br />designated classifications of employment represented by the Union as listed in this <br />Agreement and its attachments. <br /> <br />Salary Schedule. The basic salary schedule, attached hereto in a matrix format as Exhibit <br />"A," and made a part hereof as though set forth in full herein, provides numerous salary rate <br />ranges, each comprised of six (6) steps or rates of pay. <br /> <br />The respective rate ranges are identified by a three digit number. The steps within each <br />range are identified by the letters "AA" through "E" inclusive, with Step "AA" being the <br />lowest step in the range. The purpose of each step and the length of service required for <br />advancement to the next higher step within a particular salary rate range are set forth in <br />Exhibit "A." <br /> <br />The assignment of classes to salary rate ranges is listed in Exhibit B, which is attached and <br />made a part hereof as though set forth herein. <br /> <br />Salaries. <br /> <br />Effective November 1, 2001, the base salaries of employees covered by this <br />Agreement shall be increased by eight (8) salary rate ranges (approximately 4%). <br />For each bargaining unit employee employed with the City as of October 1,2001, the <br />City shall pay a one-time lump sum contract signing incentive of $700, by separate <br />vendor check. Said check will be issued no later than December 5, 2001. <br /> <br />Effective July 1, 2002, the base salaries of employees covered by this Agreement <br />shall be increased by eight (8) salary rate ranges (approximately 4%). <br /> <br />Effective July 1, 2003, the base salaries of employees covered by this Agreement <br />shall be increased by eight (8) salary rate ranges (approximately 4%). <br /> <br />By previous Agreement, employees designated as CalPERS Miscellaneous <br />contributed one percent (1%) of their salary towards the cost of the 2% at 55 <br />retirement benefit by taking a deduction in pay of two (2) salary rate ranges. This <br />deduction is hereby eliminated, effective November 1,2001. <br /> <br /> <br />
