The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 217 <br />North ~lain Street with the following Councilmen present: Wade Herrin, Walter <br />Brooks, Je~es E. Carlson, J. O&den Marksl, Thomas W. Thurman and Mayor Tc~ <br />M_e-Michael. Councilman Lorin Griset was absent, but arrived later. Also <br />present were City Manager Carl j. Thornton, City Attorney William L. Mock, <br />Director of Public Works Ronald Wolford, Planning Director Van Stevens, and <br />Clerk of the Council Doris M. Brown. <br /> <br />MINUTES On motion of Councilman Brooks,, ,seconded <br /> by Councilman Markel end carried, the <br /> Minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 1, <br />1968 and Regular Adjourned Meetings of June 28, 1968, July 2, 1968 and July 9, <br />1968, were approved as sutmitted. <br /> <br /> At 2:02 P.M., the City Council adjourned <br /> to executive session for approximately <br /> one-half hour to consider appointments <br /> for L~ .gx~y.i Board Vacancies. Councilman Griset arrived at the meeting during <br />~j~.i.~;~. ~.~.~ Ex~Ve Session. The Council reconvened at 2:50 P.M. with all Council- <br /> <br />"UP WITH PEOPLE" CAST6~ ~ Ma~or McMichael introduced several <br /> members from the cast of "Up With People", <br /> from the Orange County Sing Out group. <br />Bob Travis explained the purpose of the Sing Out groups end ~equested the <br />Council's support for the "Sing Out Asia" program and benefit luncheon being <br />held at the Anaheim Coavention Center on July 22, 1968. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrin end ~arried, <br />the Mayor was instructed to issue a proclamation recognizing this group, <br />letting the community know what they are doing, and giving support of the <br />City council. <br /> <br />PROJECT W-~9 ~ ~1~ On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br /> by Councilman Brooks an~ carried, Council <br /> approved plans and specifications and <br />authorize~ advertising for bids for Project ~-~9, furnish an~ deliver 16", <br />18" and 2~" water transmission pipe for Walnut, Franklin and Raitt Streets, <br />open g 7/ 0/68. <br /> <br />ltEADING WAIVED The full reading of ordinances and <br /> resolutions, the titles of which appeared <br /> on the public agenda, was waived, on <br />motion of Councilman Nerrin, seconded by Councilman Carlson and unanimously <br />carried. <br /> <br />CIT~ COUNCIL 287 July 15, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
