SOLICITATION APPLICATIONS <br />Applications were approved: <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, <br />seconded by Councilman Herrin and <br />carried, the following Solicitation <br /> <br />Girl Scout Council of Orange County, Annual Cookie Sale, March 7 - <br />17, and Annual Calendar Sale, month of November, 1969. <br /> <br />City of Hope, annual drive, June 8 - 15, 1969. <br /> <br />American Cancer Society, annual drive, starting April 1, 1969. <br />American Red Cross, annual drive, March 1 - 31, 1969. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, <br />Council approved the Solicitation Application for Synanon for the dates of <br />March 15 - May 15, 1969, subject to Police Department investigation and <br />approval of the solicitors. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Griset and carried, <br />the Solicitation Application Of Richard B. Kirwan and Fred Malais for Victor <br />Rivera Benefit Fund was approved subject to the standard investigation report <br />of the Police Department. <br /> <br />VARIANCE 2095 Council considered the request by <br />TIME EXTENSION REQUEST Suburbia, Inc. for, a 90 day extension <br /> of time on Variance Application 2095 to <br />construct 24 unit apartment building in the R 2 B District with less than <br />required parking at 806-814 South Cypress (8th request). <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Griset, to <br />grant the request. Councilman Herrin amended his motion to ificlude <br />that the applicant be notified that this was the last extension of time the <br />Council would grant on VA 2095. <br /> <br />The City Attorney stated that according to Municipal Code Section 9251, <br />a variance would automatically become void after six months when the <br />owner fails to institute an action to erect, build, alter, et cetera; however, <br />the granting body may, at the time of approval, provide that the variance <br />shall be valid for a period greater than six months, but not for a period <br />to exceed one year from date of its approval. <br /> <br />Councilman Herrin, with the consent of the second, withdrew his amended <br />motion and his original motion. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Herrin:and <br />carried, Council denied the request by Suburbia, Inc. for a 90 day <br />extension of time on VA 2095 and instructed staff to advise applicant that <br />the Council can no longer grant any extension of time on said variance. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />134 <br /> <br />February 17, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
