CONSENT CALENDAR <br />SPECIFICATIONS - PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES <br /> <br />Motion: <br /> <br />22.B. <br /> <br />Award in accordance with Requests for Council Action. (Items 22.A. <br />through 22.K.) <br /> <br />SPEC. NO. 03-094 - LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE AT CITY PARKS - <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency - Award a contract to <br />DMS Landscape Services for a period of two years with one three-year <br />renewal in the total annual amount not to exceed $429, 840.00 - Finance <br />and Management Services Agency <br />(Continued from the 11/17/03 City Council Meeting) <br /> <br />Fred Fox, Bob Martinez, Gregory Ware, Joe Vargas, Ray Burruel, Al <br />Ybarra, and Dave Biondolillo addressed the Council and expressed <br />concerns relative to the proposed landscape maintenance agreement and <br />the subsequent loss of City employee jobs. Each speaker expressed <br />concerns about the practice of contracting out work. <br /> <br />Michael Metzler, of the Santa Ana Chamber of commerce spoke in <br />support of the landscape maintenance agreement and noted that this was <br />a very difficult but necessary step for the City Council to take. <br /> <br />Council discussion ensued.
