To meet
the needs of our growing community, we must rely on partnerships with the
private sector. With this gift from the Hyundai Corporation, the City will
be able to continue to provide youth with positive after school programs in
the areas of chess and soccer.

The City of Santa Ana's Youth Chess Program will receive $25,000 from this
gift. With these additional resources, the City will implement an advanced
Youth Chess Program to better prepare our recreation centers and staff to
help our youth further their chess playing skills. The City will partner
with the United States Chess Federation (USCF), which helps in the
coordination of chess tournaments, teaching and coaching the game
effectively, and providing the community with awareness of the benefits of
the game. Aside from covering USCF membership fees for the clubs and
participants, resources will be applied to the purchase of regulation game
sets, training materials, staffing, books on chess strategies, and other
supplies needed to support the program.

The City of Santa Ana's Youth Soccer Program will receive $25,000 from this
gift. The grant will be used to purchase portable light towers for the
soccer field at Campesino Cesar Chavez Park. Currently, this field has no
ights and is unable to accommodate evening games. This donation will
[low the Santa Anita neighborhood Association's Youth Soccer Club to
practice on weekday evenings and play competitive games on Saturday

Page9 20.C.
