NO. 00-143) <br /> <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> r~ As Recommended <br /> E] As Amended <br /> I~ Ordinance on 1st Reading <br /> [] Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br /> [] Implementing Resolution <br /> [] Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Renew the contract with Western Transit Systems, Inc. to provide <br />transportation services for the Senior Centers for a seven-month period <br />in an amount not to exceed $20,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Recreation and Community Services Agency utilizes round-trip <br />transportation services for the City's senior residents between their <br />homes and the City's two Senior Centers. The vehicles are specially <br />designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities. <br /> <br />On December 4, 2000, the City Council awarded a contract to Western <br />Transit Systems, Inc. for a two-year period, with provision for two one- <br />year renewals. Western Transit Systems, Inc. continues to maintain the <br />lowest prices available, although requesting a price increase of three <br />and a half percent. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the <br />past contract period, and staff recommends the final renewal of the <br />contract for seven months, in order to provide transportation services <br />while new contract specifications are developed. <br /> <br />Page 15 22.B. <br /> <br /> <br />
