REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br /> COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />January 20, 2004 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT <br />ACCEPTING LIBRARY SERVICES <br />AND TECHNOLOGY ACT PUBLIC <br />LIBRARY STAFF EDUCATION FUNDS <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />APPROVED [] As Recommended <br /> [] As Amended <br /> [] Ordinance on Ist Reading <br /> [] Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br /> [] Implementing Resolution <br /> [] Set Public Headng For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting Federal Library Services and <br />Technology Act funds for the Public Library Staff Education Program of <br />$9,933 in revenue account (account no. 154-01-5361) and appropriate the <br />funds to expenditure accounts (account nos. 154-215-6221 and 154-215-6590) <br />to provide reimbursement for library staff. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br /> Library Services and Technology Act of 1996 created the Public Library <br />Staff Education Program to provide tuition reimbursement for library <br />employees who are enrolled in a library science degree or certificate <br />program.
