Turnouts exposed to structure <br />fires absorb smoke and carcinogenic chemicals. Currently, the Fire <br />Department transfers individual turnouts to stations equipped with <br />laundry facilities or delivers them to outside contractors for <br />cleaning. The plumbing modifications allow for installation of washers <br />and dryers at Stations 2, 5, and 6, enabling all stations to perform <br />cleaning in-house. <br /> <br />Quotes were solicited and Coast Plumbing provided the lowest responsive <br />bid.
