November 6, 2003 <br />Ms, Cynthia Nelson, Deputy City Manager <br />Development Services <br />Cite of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza (M-20) <br />Santa Ana, California 92702 <br />RE: Architectural Design Review Training (revised) <br />Dear Cynthia and Maya: <br />I have revised our proposal based on my conversation with Maya last week. <br />I want to thank you for allowing RRM Design Group to assist the City with your Design <br />Review training. I know we'll be successful in raising the level of design competence <br />with your Current Planning Staff as I'll be assisted in my effort from a registered <br />architect in my San Juan Office. His name is Don Iler and is an excellent speaker/trainer. <br />If there are any more changes you would like to make, please feel free to amend the test <br />herein <br />Task A: Kick-off Meeting <br />Al: RRM Design Group's team will hold an initial kick-off meeting with the City's project <br />team to confirm the scope of work and get up to speed on the issues of the project. A camera <br />ready work book will be distributed for the City to copy. <br />A2: We will prepare an entertaining and educational Powerpoint presentation as the first <br />session with the Planning Division. The Power -point will contain: <br />• Discussion of Neighborhood Context and understanding "character defining elements" <br />of most typical architectural styles in Santa Ana(photo essay) <br />• Design Review/Architectural Terms (architecture t01 —Exterior) <br />(ResidentiaUCommercial Graphic) <br />• One Red -Lined Development Application From Santa Ana (RRM to complete) <br />Deliverable: Mark Brodeur Don Iler, Architect to attend meeting. Powerpoint presentation on <br />disk. <br />Estimated Fee: $ 3,000.00 <br />Task B: Two Case Studies (TASK DELETED -see Task D) <br />The City of Santa Ana will submit two cur -rent projects to RRM. The RRM design review team <br />will conduct a detailed "red -line" edit review of plans. We will include comments on all aspects <br />of the review, from site planning, to architecture, to landscape, to signs. For clarity, we will have <br />our landscape architect review in "green -line" and our architect in "blue -line". Red -line would <br />focus on site planning and compatibility issues. Specific details would include how to reduce size <br />and bulk. The two case studies would then be reduced for inclusion in the Workbook. <br />Deliverable: Prepare two sets of marked -up plans and a memo indicating recommended <br />improvements and modifications to the project. <br />Estimated Fee: Not Applicable <br />Task C: Two Training Sessions to Review Case Studies (TASK DELETED) <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
