NO. 04-003) <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />APPROVED [] As Recommended <br /> [] As Amended <br /> [] Ordinance on 1st Reading <br /> [] Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br /> [] Implementing Resolution <br /> [] Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUEDTO <br /> <br />FILENUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to American LaFrance of Los Angeles, under <br />of Ventura's contract, for the purchase of a fire pumper in <br />of $351,667. <br /> <br />the County <br />the amount <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fire Department has adopted a comprehensive and systematic <br />replacement program for Fire Department emergency response vehicles. <br />The program is designed to replace outdated equipment in accordance <br />with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1500. The <br />standard recommends a limit of 15 years to frontline service units, <br />with a reserve status of five years. The standards are part of the <br />requirements for maintaining a recognized Class 1 Fire Department. Due <br />to age, one 1981 pumper meets the schedule for replacement. The <br />delivery time with American LaFrance of Los Angeles is at a nine-month <br />period. <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to make <br />purchases using contracts from any public agency. The County of <br />Ventura's contract with American LaFrance was awarded as a result of <br />open, competitive bidding, and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />Page 59 22.D. <br /> <br /> <br />
