Award a contract to Dominguez General Engineering and Construction, <br /> the lowest responsible bidder, in accordance with unit bid prices for <br /> an estimated amount of $183,064 for the installation of sewer <br /> improvements along Fifth and Mountain View Streets. <br /> <br />2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated construction cost of <br /> $228,800. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The existing sewer mains along Fifth and Mountain View Streets were built <br />in the 1930's (Exhibit 1). The sewer mains have exceeded their expected <br />life and are deteriorated and undersized. This project will provide for <br />the installation of sewer mains, laterals, manholes and cleanouts. Once <br />completed, the project will increase service capacity of the sewer system <br />as well as eliminate the maintenance problems associated with older and <br />deteriorated sewer mains. <br /> <br />The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on December 8 and 9, 2003, and <br />bids were opened on January 8, 2004.
