REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 2, 2004 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br />RENEW AGREEMENT WITH ARAMARK <br />CORRECTIONAL SERVICES INC., <br />FOR INMATE FOOD SERVICES <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />[] As Recommended <br />[] As Amended <br />[] Ordinance on 1,t Reading <br />[] Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />[] Implementing Resolution <br />[] Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUEDTO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to renew the service agreement with Aramark <br />Correctional Services, Inc., to provide inmate food and commissary <br /> ~rvices for the Santa Ana Police Department Jail in an amount not to <br /> ~eed $945,030. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />%n January 2002, Council approved a three-year agreement with Aramark <br />Correctional Services, Inc., for food services at the Santa Ana Jail. <br />This food service includes daily meals for all inmates, inmate commissary <br />service, and operation of the staff cafeteria in the Police <br />Administration Building. Under the terms of the agreement the price per <br />meal may be adjusted annually in relation to the cost of living <br />standards. With the proposed renewal, the cost per meal will increase <br />from $1.79 to $1.88 per meal. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Funds for the first five months of the agreement is budgeted and <br />available in the Santa A_na Jail Contractual Services Account (account no. <br />11-349-6291), and funding for the remainder of the agreement will be <br />included in the future budget year.
