However, Mr. and Mrs. Kieu elected to not <br />attend the October 2, 2003 Commission meeting but submitted a letter <br />requesting the Commission continue the item. At the October meeting, the <br />Commission expressed their concerns with the deteriorating condition of <br />the Maharajah House and its vulnerability for inappropriate style <br />modifications. Based on these concerns and the remarkable historic and <br />architectural significance of the house, the Commission approved the <br />placement of the Maharajah House on the Santa Aha Register of Historical <br />Properties and categorized it as Landmark. <br /> <br />Therefore, it is recommended that the City Council uphold the decision of <br />the Historic Resources Commission and adopt the resolutions approving <br />Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2003-30 and Historic <br />Register Categorization No. 2003-34. <br /> <br />Environmental Impact <br /> <br />In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, the <br />recommended actions are exempt from further review.
