RESOLUTION NO. 2004-010 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA SUPPORTING STATE FUNDING OF A <br />PEDESTRIAN SAFETY PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDING <br />UNDER THE STATE'S OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY <br />GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br />1/21/04LSS <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br /> A. The State of California created the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to administer <br />the use of federal transportation funds allocated through the National Highway Safety <br />Act, for traffic safety projects; and <br /> <br /> B. OTS makes grants available to local governmental agencies to develop traffic <br />safety programs based on the results of a statewide competition; and <br /> <br /> C. OTS has determined that priority areas for funding include pedestrian safety <br />programs; and <br /> <br /> D. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana supports efforts to improve <br />pedestrian safety in the City of Santa Ana through a Santa Ana Interagency Pedestrian <br />Safety Program (hereinafter referred to as the "Program") involving education and <br />enforcement of pedestrian safety laws. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana supports State funding of <br />the Program in the City of Santa Ana, and authorizes the Executive Director of the <br />Public Works Agency or his designee, to execute in the name of the City of Santa Ana <br />all necessary applications required to be submitted to OTS for the Program under <br />California's Office of Traffic Safety Grant Program. <br /> <br /> Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 2nd day of February, 2004. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2004-010 <br /> Page I of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
