CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />MARCH 1,2004 <br />TITLE <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT <br />FEMA ASSISTANCE TO <br />FIREFIGHTER GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />(J~ <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />0 As Recommended <br />0 As Amended <br />0 Ordinance on 1~ Reading <br />0 Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />0 Implementing Resolution <br />0 Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting $113,300 from the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistant to Firefighters Grant, and <br />transferring $48,557 from the Fire Department as the City's matching <br />requirement, and appropriate $161,857 to the FEMA Grant account for the <br />acquisition of Vehicle Exhaust Removal Systems. <br /> <br />.DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters <br />Grant for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program funds will provide <br />Vehicle Exhaust Removal Systems for Fire Stations 4, 6 and 9. The <br />installation of these emission extraction systems will bring the Fire <br />Department into compliance with current ventilation codes, and are required <br />by the California Occupational Safety Health Agency and National Fire <br />Protection Association. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Approval of the appropriation adjustment, will increase revenues in the <br />FY03 FEMA Grant account (account no. 146-01-5350-2) by $113,300, transfer <br />$48,557 from the Fire Maintenance account(account no. 11-327-6641), and <br />increase the expenditure appropriation for the FY03 FEMA Grant account by <br />the total amount of $161,857 (account no. 146-328-6641). <br /> <br />.~/K <br /> <br />Phillip Garcia , <br />~re Chief, fire Department <br /> <br />ÂnL-~ It.
