NO. 97-015) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />[J As Recommended <br />[J As Amended <br />[J Ordinance on 1 at Reading <br />[J Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />[J Implementing Resolution <br />[J Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />f24i;2 <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Renew the contract with California Forensic Phlebotomy, Inc. for blood <br />and breath technician services for a one-year period in an annual <br />amount not to exceed $85,000. <br />. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />California Forensic Phlebotomy, Inc. provides blood alcohol level <br />testing and analysis, drug content, blood typing, and DNA testing for <br />the Forensics Division of the Santa Ana Police Department. The testing <br />is required for use as evidence in the prosecution of criminal cases. <br /> <br />California Forensic Phlebotomy, Inc., the current provider of blood and <br />breath technician services for all Orange County law enforcement <br />agencies has agreed to the renewal of the contract. Due to an increase <br />in labor costs and numerous other expenses, the service provider has <br />requested a 7.3 percent increase in the cost per test. California <br />Forensic Phlebotomy, Inc. has been providing service to the City since <br />1992, and has performed satisfactorily during the past year. The <br />Police Department recommends renewing the contract with California <br />Forensic Phlebotomy, Inc. . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />22A-1 <br /> <br />~- <br />
