DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Police Department's Office of Traffic Safety operates a <br />Traffic Offender Program that includes a "Driving Under the Influence" <br />(DUI) prevention operation. Grant money has been awarded for the <br />purchase of a fifth wheel trailer containing driver vehicle <br />assimilators directed toward high school students. The grant also <br />provides for an extended cab truck which will pull the trailer to local <br />schools and events for DUI prevention education. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on February 11-12, 2004, and <br />bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids <br />received is as follows: <br /> <br />34 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />1 Invitation For Bid mailed to a Santa Ana vendor <br />5 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received and opened on February 24, 2004 (Exhibit 1).
