<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />mjv 03-08-2004 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-016 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA APPROVING THE PARTICIPATION IN THE <br />SOUTH COAST AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT'S <br />GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />ENERGY'S CLEAN CITIES PROGRAM. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has selected <br />the City of Santa Ana to co-participate in a United States Department of Energy "Clean <br />Cities Program". Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Clean Cities <br />Program supports public and private partnerships that deploy alternative fuel vehicles <br />(AFVs) and build supporting infrastructure whereby gasoline and diesel burning vehicles <br />are replaced with hydrogen-burning vehicles. <br /> <br />B. Pursuant to the rules established by the DOE, AQMD will apply to the <br />DOE for grant funds needed to implement the Clean Cities Program and then pass said <br />grant funds on to an approved (AQMD) contractor to construct said infrastructure. <br /> <br />C. AQMD is responsible for the administration of the program in the state and <br />setting up necessary rules and procedures governing application by local agencies <br />under the program. <br /> <br />D. AQMD requires the participating Cities to certify that if AQMD receives the <br />DOE grant for the purchase and installation of infrastructure needed to fuel hydrogen <br />cars then City will commit to spending $125, 000.00 to purchase and/or modify existing <br />vehicles to hydrogen-burning vehicles, as well as providing the location and required <br />land improvements needed to place the infrastructure. In exchange, AQMD will provide <br />funding to an approved contractor to and install the infrastructure to fuel said vehicles. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana approves City's <br />participation with Southern California Air Quality Management District in the Department <br />of Energy's Clean Cities Program. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 15th day of March, 2003. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2004-016 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
