Only that period of time devoted to work will be <br />compensated. <br /> <br />Employees who are ordered back to work while off-duty <br />because of an emergency or other unforeseen event, will <br />be paid for travel time at the overtime rate from the <br />time they leave their home until they return home, or <br />until their regularly scheduled shift begins. Only that <br />period of time devoted to work will be compensated. <br /> <br />Employees who are called at home and offered voluntary <br />overtime work, and elect to accept the offer, will not be <br />compensated for travel time in any manner. Similarly, <br />employees who sign up for voluntary overtime, or who have <br />advance notice that they will have to work during their <br />off-duty time on an overtime basis, will not be <br />compensated for travel time. <br /> <br />Accrued Overtime Paid Upon Promotions or Upon Separation. <br />Upon an employee's appointment to a position in which overtime <br />may not be earned or upon an employee's separation from <br />employment with the City by resignation, retirement, layoff or <br />otherwise, he or she shall forthwith be compensated for any <br />overtime accumulated to the time immediately preceding such <br />promotion or separation. <br /> <br />8.13 <br /> <br />8.14 Court Appearance. Compensation for court appearance <br />personnel covered by this Agreement shall be as follows: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />by <br /> <br />For each required court appearance made by an employee <br />during his or her off-duty time in regard to City <br />business, employees shall be paid overtime for the period <br />of time from their arrival at court until they are <br />released from court or the court session closes for that <br />day. However, in no case, shall an employee receive less <br />than two (2) hours overtime for a court appearance. If <br />court appearances are made both in the morning and <br />afternoon of a particular day, two (2) hours overtime <br />will be allowed for each session attended. If the <br />employee is not released and must remain available for <br />afternoon court, the employee shall be paid overtime for <br />all hours the court is in session that day. <br /> <br />The employee must provide a copy of the subpoena <br />requiring his or her attendance to initiate payroll <br />procedures. <br /> <br />A subpoenaed employee scheduled to appear in court on <br /> <br />32 <br />
