<br />. <br /> <br />15:4/6/04 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-028 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA REQUESTING PERMISSION FROM THE <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION FOR THE INSTALLATIONOF <br />DESTINATION SIGNS ON THE 1-5 FREEWAY AND <br />SURFACE STREETS <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. Pursuant to the State of California Department of Transportation <br />("CaITrans") guidelines, the legislative body of a municipality must adopt <br />a resolution requesting the installation of signage on a specific state <br />highway. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />B. The City desires to implement the destination signage on the 1-5 Freeway <br />at Grand Avenue that will read "Downtown Santa Ana", with one sign for <br />each direction of travel on the 1-5 Freeway approaching the Grand <br />Avenue exit. <br /> <br />C. The City is also requesting post-mounted directional signs guiding <br />motorists from the 1-5 Freeway off-ramps and Grand Avenue/Santa Ana <br />Boulevard to the downtown area. Exhibit 1 portrays the specific <br />locations for such signs. The exhibit is attached hereto and <br />incorporated herein by this reference. <br /> <br />D. The City of Santa Ana currently has a population of approximately <br />347,000 people. The requested signage will assist both residents and <br />visitors to the City in finding this destination. <br /> <br />Section ? The City Council hereby requests the installation of the 1-5 Freeway <br />signage as discussed herein, as well as permission to implement the post-mounted signs <br />directing motorists from Grand Avenue/Santa Ana Boulevard to the downtown area. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Ser.tion 3. The Executive Director of the Public Works Agency is hereby <br />authorized to execute any documents or contracts needed in furtherance of the <br />installation of such signage, with approval of the City Attorney. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this ~ day of April, 2004. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2004-028 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
