She reported that the <br />Southland Economic Development Corporation quarterly monitoring report, for the <br />working capital loan program is still pending. <br /> <br />National Community Renewal Conference - Maria Yanez reported that on October <br />21-22, 2003, the Santa Ana Federal Empowerment Zone hosted the National <br />Community Renewal conference sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and <br />Urban Development (HUD). The two-day Conference was held at the Westin South <br />Coast Plaza Hotel in Costa Mesa. Assistant HUD Secretary Roy Bernardi was the <br />featured speaker on Tuesday, October 21st and was joined by Santa Ana Mayor Miguel <br />Pulido. Ms. Yanez noted that two hundred and twenty five individuals attended the <br />conference with seventy Empowerment Zone businesses taking advantage of the <br />"Business Tax Incentive" session and thirty Certified Public Accountants receiving <br />accreditation from the California State Board of Accountancy for the session taught by <br />HUD's tax attorney. <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS - None <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br />Director Haro invited members and staff to the Tamajada Fiesta at Santa Ana College <br />on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Chair Bloom-Ramos announced that future board meetings would be held at Delhi or <br />Corbin Community Centers.
