NO. 04-035) APPROVED ¡:¡ As Recommended ¡:¡ As Amended ¡:¡ Ordinance on 1st Reading ¡:¡ Ordinance on 2nd Reading ¡:¡ Implementing Resolution ¡:¡ Set Public Hearing For {24J ~ CITY MANAGER CONTINUED TO ~ FILE NUMBER RECOMMENDED ACTION Award a contract to Victor Buick-GMC Truck, Inc. for the purchase of one utility body truck in the amount not to exceed $72,837.61. 8 DISCUSSION The Fleet Maintenance Division's annual Equipment Replacement Program is included in the City's annual budget, and identifies vehicles scheduled for replacement. Funding is monitored through a depreciation schedule established with each department. The Water and Sewer Maintenance Department of the Public Works Agency handles all water and sewer service repairs in Santa Ana, covering 450 miles of main sewer and 44,000 lateral sewer lines. The truck is equipped with an air compressor to run jackhammers, and pipe racks for copper piping. Due to age and condition, a 1991 service truck has been budgeted and approved for replacement in the current fiscal year. The notice inviting bids was advertised on March 19-20, 2004, and bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: 21 Invitations For Bid mailed 2 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors 3 Bids received 8 Bids were received and opened on March 30, 2004 (Exhibit 1). The bid from Victor Buick-GMB Truck, Inc. is responsive to the specifications and meets the City's requirements. 221-1
