The project <br />requires the existing railroad crossing protection system to be removed <br />and replaced to accommodate the widening. <br /> <br />The new railroad crossing protection system includes automatic gates, <br />bells and signals, and conforms to the current requirements of the <br />California Public Utility Commission. Additional rubber panels within <br />the railroad right of way will be constructed to accommodate the widening <br />section of Grand Avenue. <br /> <br />The proposed agreement requires the SCRRA to construct and the City to <br />pay for the railroad work. SCRRA's staff has estimated the cost of the <br />railroad work to be $280,460. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Arn accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Mitigated <br />~egative Declaration ER No. 2002-382 has been approved and adopted for <br />this project. <br /> <br />25G-1 <br />
