As the workload continues to increase, the resource center
facility and staff are challenged to provide quality, in-depth services.
The W/O/R/K Center and its satellite offices have experienced a 26 percent
increase in demand for services over the last two years. In light of the
downturn in funding over the past year and in order to continue to meet
the needs of the community, it is recommended that the W/O/R/K Center
continue to provide services via an on-line job search system called
Virtual One-Stop developed by Geographic Solutions.

Geographic Solutions is the country's leading provider of software for
workforce development and has designed a virtual one-stop system that is
currently used by 11 states. In addition to Santa Ana, four workforce
investment areas in the State of California utilize this system to provide
enhanced services to their residents. The virtual one-stop system is
recognized by the United States Department of Labor as a primary deliverer
of services. The Santa Ana site is unique as it offers all services in
both Spanish and English.

. The virtual one-stop system provides access to a comprehensive array of
services for job seekers, training providers, benefit applicants,

258-1
