NO. 04-042) <br /> <br />PROGRAM <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />[:J As Recommended <br />[:J As Amended <br />[:J Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />[:J Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />[:J Implementing Resolution <br />[:J Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />BJ <br /> <br />4dE- <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Pacific Medical Clinic for pre-placement <br />and medical examination services for a two-year period, with <br />8 for three one-year renewals, in an annual amount not to exceed <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />physicals <br />provision <br />$27,500. <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana has approximately 1,700 full-time and 600 part- <br />time employees working in jobs ranging from public safety and heavy <br />labor to clerical and administrative positions. Offers of employment <br />to prospective employees are conditional upon successful completion of <br />a pre-placement medical exam and drug test. In addition, periodical <br />examinations are provided for current City employees as required by law <br />or under special circumstances. The City's objective is to give equal <br />consideration in employment to all applicants who can reasonably be <br />expected to perform the jobs' various tasks, with or without special <br />accommodation, and without undue risk to themselves, co-workers, or the <br />public. In order to meet the objective, the City contracts with a <br />medical center for the services. <br /> <br />The notice inviting proposals was advertised on May 12 and 14, 2004, <br />and proposals were solicited. A pre-proposal meeting was held on May <br />18, 2004 and terms and conditions of the Request For Proposal were <br />discussed.
