Curtis & Sons for the purchase of tools and <br />equipment for an aerial ladder truck in the amount of $51,754.43. <br /> <br />8 DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On September 15, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract for the <br />purchase of a new aerial ladder truck. The new aerial ladder truck, <br />with an anticipated delivery of August 2004, replaces a 1972 truck, <br />which has outlived its useful life. Many of the tools and equipment <br />needed for the new truck inventory also need to be replaced. Such <br />items include saws, pike poles, miscellaneous wooden hand tools, and <br />tools needed in both standard and metric sizes. The purchase of new <br />tools and miscellaneous fire equipment is necessary to properly equip <br />the new aerial ladder truck. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on May 5 and 7, 2004, and bids <br />were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is <br />as follows: <br /> <br />25 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />1 Invitation For Bid mailed to <br />4 Bids received <br /> <br />a Santa Ana vendor <br /> <br />Bids were received and opened on May 25, 2004 (Exhibit 1). Bids were <br />evaluated and awarded on an all or none basis. The bid received from <br />8 L.N.
