City staff recently met with representatives from
Union Pacific Railroad Company (UPRC) regarding the condition of the at-
grade railroad crossings north of Goetz Street. UPRC has agreed to
replace the existing asphalt crossings with concrete panels with the
condition that the City shares the costs.

The City's share shall not exceed $58,301 which is 50% of the total cost
to replace the street surface at the railroad crossing with concrete
panels. Concrete crossings have proven to be more durable and more cost
effective than asphalt. Once completed, the new concrete crossings will
provide a smoother ride for motorists.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Environmental Review No.
Exemption has been filed
Environmental Quality Act.

8

2003-91 has been completed and a Categorical
for this project pursuant to the California

25H-1
