<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />_ITV COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />JULY 6, 2004 <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />TITLE: <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR <br />COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH <br />SYSTEM MAINTENANCE <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />~.-- <br /> <br />0 As Recommended <br />0 As Amended <br />0 Ordinance on 1 $I Reading <br />0 Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />0 Implementing Resolution <br />0 Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with Northrop <br />Grumman Public Safety Inc. for computer software and equipment maintenance <br />services for the Santa Ana Police Department's Computer Aided Dispatch <br />~ystem, extending the term of the agreement for an additional year in an <br />~mount not to exceed $66,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana Police Department entered into a one-year maintenance <br />agreement with four one-year renewal options with Northrop Grumman Public <br />Safety Inc. (PSI) in September 2003 to provide maintenance services for <br />computer software and equipment for the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) <br />system. The CAD is the primary data communication tool for exchanging <br />information between police dispatchers and patrol officers who provide <br />emergency response to our community. The ability to continue to provide <br />specialized maintenance on this system is critical to the overall <br />effectiveness of police service.
