MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />June 15~ 1970 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:10 P, M., in the Council Chambers of <br />the City Hall Annex, 500 West Sixth Street, with_ the following Councilmen <br />present: Vernon S. Evans, Jerry M, Patterson, Harry K. Yamamoto, <br />and Vice Mayor Wade Herrin, Councilmen J. Ogden Markel, Ray Villa <br />and Mayor Lorin Griset were absent due to their attendance at the <br />Conference of Mayors in Denver. Also present were City Manager <br />Carl J. Thornton, City Attorney William L. Mock, Director of Public <br />Works Ronald Wolford, Director of Planning Herbert Wieland, and Clerk <br />of the Council Florence I. Malone. <br /> <br />MINUTES On motion of Councilman Patterson, <br /> seconded by Councilman Yamamoto <br /> and unanimously carried, the Minutes <br />of the Regular Meeting of June 1, 1970 and the Adjourned Regular Meeting of <br />May 26, 1970 were approved as submitted. <br /> <br />O~ANC, F~ COUNTY FAIR Cecil Marks, President, Orange <br /> County Fair and Jim Garvey, Feature <br /> Exhibit Supervisor, spoke to the Council <br />in regard to the City's decision not to exhibit at the Fair this year. They explained <br />that most cities, with contributions and help of manufacturers and merchants, put <br />together a very attractive exhibit for as little as $50, 00 to $]50.00, and that they <br />would very much like to have Santa Ana as an exhibitor since it is the County Seat. <br />It was suggested that Mr, Marks and Mr, Garvey contact the Chamber of Commerce <br />and pursue the matter through the Chamber, <br /> <br />SPEC. 371-117 - PIPE AND FITTINGS On motion of Councilman Evans, seconded <br /> by Councilrnan Patterson and unanimously <br /> carried, award of contract for Spec. 371-]17, <br />Asbestos Cement Pipe & Cast Iron Fittings for Asbestos Cement Pipe, was continued <br />to the July 6 Council meeting~ <br /> <br />SPEC. 63]-133 On motion of Councilman Evans, seconded <br />DOMESTIC WATER METERS by Councilman Yamamoto and unanimously <br /> carried, Council ordered filed report of <br />bids received for Spec~ 631-]33, Domestic Water Meters; awarded contract for the <br />3/4" x 1" me~ers, the 1 1/2" meters, and the 2" metersto Rockwell Manufacturing <br />Company, the lowest and best bidder meeting the specifications; awarded contract <br />for the 1" meters to ©amon-Calmet Company, the low bidder meeting the specifications; <br />and rejected ali other bids. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />-158- June 15, 1970 <br /> <br /> <br />
