DAIRY PROBLEMS Council considered the petition containing approximately 55 signatures of residents in the area of the Fountain Valley Dairy, 10800 Edinger, Fountain Valley, requesting an effective method of eliminating the flies and odors in the area. The City Attorney explained that there were provisions in the Municipal Code pertaining to these matters and that the Orange County Health Department is the enforcement agency for these provisions. The City Manager explained that all of the cities in Orange County had adopted a uniform ordinance in 1962 regarding this subject and that the level of enforcement was the same in all Orange County cities. Don Lake, 5124 Lenhart, Santa Ana, spokesman for a group of people at the Council meeting in regard to the matter, explained that the people on the north side of the dairy lived in Santa Ana, and the conditions were very bad, especially in regard to flies; that they were _asking both the Cities of Santa Ana and Fountain Valley for help. Jayne Shockey, 5426 W. Lenhart, complained about the severity of the fly problem at her home, and Harriett Bridge, 5422 W. Lenl~rt, also spoke. On motion of Councilman Patterson, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto and unanimously carried, the staff was instructed to coatact the Orange County Health Department at the earliest possible time in regard to the fly problem and to communicate with the City of Fountain Valley in an attempt to resolve the fly and the health problem in the area of the Fountain Valley Dairy. 1970-71 BUDGET On motion of Councilman Patterson, seconded by Councilman Evans and unanimously carried, the City Council set the 1970-71 Budget for public hearing on July 20, 1970, at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers, City Hall Annex, 500 West Sixth Street, and instructed the Clerk of the Council to suggest to the absent Council members the dates of June 29 and July 13, 1970 at 7:00 P.M., in the Mayor's office, City Hall, for study sessions of the Budget.
