RESOLUTION HONORING Mayor Griset introduced Joseph <br />PRESIDENT NIXON G. Rollo, Caligrapher and Lymner, <br /> who is creating a replica, for <br />presentation to President Nixon, of the Resolution adopted by the City Council <br />on September 15, 1969, proclaiming Richard M. Nixon to be Orange County's <br />First Citizen of the Century. Mr. Rollo displayed his work on the replica up <br />to this point and described briefly how this artwork of beautiful writing and <br />illumination is done. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. <br />FOURTH STREET MALL <br /> <br />Assessment District No. 236. <br /> <br /> Hearing was opened on the <br />236 confirmation of work and costs for <br /> street improvements on Fourth <br /> Street from Ross to Spurgeon, <br /> The Clerk reported the Notice of Hearing <br /> <br />posted, published and mailed as required by law, with evidence on file, <br />and that one written protest of cost had been received from A. Sandy Steiner and <br />two written protests on the work from Mrs. Arthur A. Bissell and Joseph <br />L. Gilmaker had been received. The Clerk read the letters aloud. On motion <br />of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Markel and unanimously <br />carried, the communications were ordered filed. <br /> <br />The Public Works Director reviewed the project. There being no oral <br />protests,~ the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 70-111 CONFIRMING ASSESSMENT, ASSESSMENT DISTRICT <br />NO. 236, SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA was adopted, on motion of Councilman <br />Patterson, seconded by Councilman Villa, on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin, Patterson, Villa, Yamamoto, Griset <br />Markel <br />E vans <br /> <br />Joseph Gilmaker, 308 West Fourth Street, described some of the conditions <br />of the work which he felt were faulty and requested that the contractor correct <br />them. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING Hearing was opened on the appeal <br />PUBLIC DANCING PLACE filed by Cornelius Pasee on the <br /> Police Chief's refusal to issue a <br />permit to him to operate a public dancing place at 1214 1/2 West First Street, <br />pursuant to Section 11-5 of the Municipal Code. <br /> <br />Cornelius Pasee, the appellant, was present and explained to Council why he <br />thought the permit should be granted to him. No one else desiring to speak, <br />the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />members present. <br /> <br />At 8:50 P.M., a five minute recess <br />was declared.
