RES. 71-33 RESOLUTION 71-33 STATING <br />GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND DECLARING THE RESULT <br /> OF THE CANVASS OF THE <br />GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, <br />CALIFORNIA ON APRIL 6, 1971 was adopted, on motion of Councilman Markel, <br />seconded by Councilman Yamamoto, and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />RES. 71-34 RESOLUTION 71~34 OF THE <br />SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, <br />DECLARING TIlE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF <br />TIlE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD APRIL 6, 1971 was adopted, on <br />motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Patterson, and <br />unanimously carried. <br /> <br />INSTALLATION OF NEWLY <br />ELECTED COUNCILMEN <br /> <br />elected Councilmen Evans, Griset, <br /> <br /> Clerk of the Council administered <br /> the oath of office and presented <br /> Certificates of Election to newly <br />Markel and Yamamoto. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT - SINE DIE The Mayor announced adjournment <br /> sine die and requested the Clerk <br /> of the Council to preside during <br />proceedings for reorganization of the Council. <br /> <br />REORGANIZATION OF COUNCIL <br /> <br />nominations were made: <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council called <br />for nominations for Mayor of the <br />City of Santa Aha. The following <br /> <br />Councilman Jerry M. Patterson, on motion of Councilman Villa; <br /> <br />Councilman Wade Ilerrin, on motion of Councilman Evans; <br /> <br />Councilman Lorin Griset, on motion of Councilman Yamamoto. <br /> <br />Nominations were closed on motion of Councilman Patterson, seconded by <br />Councilman Villa, and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />First Ballot voting was as follows on roll call vote: <br /> <br />For Councilman Ilerrin: <br /> <br />For Councilman Patterson: <br /> <br />For Councilman Griset: <br /> <br />Ilerrin, Evans, Markel <br /> <br />Patterson, Villa <br /> <br />Yamamoto, Griset <br /> <br />City Attorney Withers stated that a plurality may not elect any person to office; <br />that the City Charter states the rules of procedure shall be first covered by <br />Parliamentary Procedure at a Glance, and in the event of dispute, the 75th <br />Edition of Robert's Rules of Orders shall prevail, which allows only for a <br />majority vote in election of officers. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL -1Z0- April 13, 1971 <br /> <br /> <br />
