DISCUSSION

inmate
exceed

The City of Santa Ana maintains a 480-bed holding facility, which
houses federal and juvenile inmates. Uniforms are provided to ensure
that the inmates are easily identifiable and to minimize the
introduction of contraband items into the holding facility. Staff
requests shipments of inmate uniforms on a quarterly basis in order to
maintain a sufficient inventory.

On June 3, 2002, the City Council awarded a contract for a period of
one year with options for two one-year renewals. Robinson Textiles has
agreed to the final renewal of the contract without an increase in
cost. The vendor has performed satisfactorily, and has been responsive
to the City's requirements. As a result, staff recommends authorizing
the renewal to the contract.

.

228-1

cs. 383
