<br />SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />May 10, 2004 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was convened at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall 8th Floor Conference <br />Room, 20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />Councilmembers present: Councilmembers Alberta Christy, Claudia Alvarez. <br /> <br />Staff present: Assistant City Manager Debra Kurita, Assistant City Attorney Paula <br />Coleman; Police Chief Paul Walters; Fire Chief Phil Garcia; Assistant Director <br />PRCS Gerardo Mouet, and Fire Marshal Lori Smith. <br /> <br />Public Present: Vie and Judy Edge; and Glen and Julie Stroud. <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF DISCUSSIONS <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes of the November 17, 2003 meeting was deferred until <br />the next scheduled meeting. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />FIREWORKS, REGULATIONS & FEES <br /> <br />Fire Marshal Lori Smith updated the Committee on the Fireworks <br />Booth Lottery and presented Information Bulletin 04-02 for their <br />review. There will now be a total of 85 fireworks booths. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />PROPOSED MODIFICATIONS TO SAFETY-RELATED FEES AND <br />CHARGES <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Kurita reviewed the new and modified safety <br />related fees for the Police and Fire Departments in the budget for <br />2004-05. Included in the fees will be a revised application fee of <br />$300 for fireworks booths. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />SANTIAGO PARK ENFORCEMENT UPDATE <br /> <br />This item was continued to the meeting of July 12, 2004. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />138-12 <br />
