NS-1091 ORDINANCE NS-1091 <br />TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX PROVIDING FOR TRANSIENT <br /> OCCUPANCY TAX was <br />adopted, on motion of Councilman Evans, seconded by Councilman Villa, <br />and carried on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Evans, Villa, Griset, Yamamoto <br />Herrin, Markel <br />Patterson <br /> <br />Prior to voting on the ordinance, Mrs. Noreen Sutton, 2211 East First <br />Street, spoke in opposition to the tax. She stated that she is the owner <br />of the Wishing Well Motel; that this tax is an inconvenience to the guest <br />and a nuisance to the lodging operator; that collection of a room tax by <br />motels is considerably more complicated than collecting sales taxes; <br />that each exemption requires documentation and additional accounting; <br />that the tax is discriminatory; and that the motel/hotel owners will fight <br />the matter in Court, if necessary. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL -291- September 7, 1971 <br /> <br /> <br />
