<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-066 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO <br />EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT FOR <br />THE 2004 LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK <br />GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES <br />DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Police Department has been selected to receive a <br />grant from the United States Department of Justice, in the amount <br />of $143,303.00, for the 2004 funding year. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />The Federal Omnibus Appropriations Act provides funding for the <br />implementation of the Local Law Enforcement Grants Program. <br />These funds are allocated to the local law enforcement agencies <br />based on population and crime rates. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />This is the ninth year the Police Department has received funding <br />from the U.S. Department of Justice through this grant program, <br />which funding will be used to support overtime programs in the <br />Department's crime reduction efforts and the improvement of public <br />safety throughout the community. <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana has agreed per the grant requirements to <br />allocate matching funds of $15,923.00. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council authorizes the City Manager and the Chief of <br />Police, or their designees, to execute the 2004 Local Law Enforcement Grant <br />Agreement in the amount of $143,303.00 with matching funds in the amount of <br />$15,923.00. <br /> <br />Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its <br />adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and <br />certify the vote adopting this Resolution. <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />75D-3 <br />
